Hines RV and Mobile Home Park
Immediately following the city's incorporation in December 1930, a post office named Hines was established in January 1931 to cater to the needs of the Edward Hines Lumber Company mill and the surrounding community. Homes for mill workers were constructed in the new city, located south of Burns, featuring a downtown oval layout and parks for recreational activities designed by Mrs. Loretta O'Dowd Hines, the wife of Edward. She insisted that the houses be built with subtle variations to ensure the city stood out from the uniform appearance typical of most mill towns.
